      Cool link. I remember reading Carmilla in high school. I was somewhat disappointed at the time that there wasn't a male/female relationship, and that it wasn't scarier. Now I remember that line about hearing her faint step on the stairs or something, in a rather haunting way. Easier to appreciate now that I'm older.

        I only came across her later. We did not get to do vampires at school, let alone girly vampires who liked girlies. The closest we got to gothic was H G Wells, in the Time Machine, with his photophobic and cannabalistic Morlocks. Still, kept me happy, proto gothling that I was.
